Universal Orlando is splashing out on the latest technology to make sure visitors really 'lava' its incredible new Volcano Bay water park due to open in early summer 2017.
The first-of-its-kind attraction will spread across 30 acres and feature a variety of aquatic experiences that range from mild to mayhem.
Visitors will be able to dip into a multi-directional wave pool with sandy beaches, float on a peaceful winding river or get wet and wild on twisting multi-rider raft rides and high-speed slides that drop from the top of the 200ft centrepiece volcanointo the waters below.

How wearable technology cuts time in the queues

The TapuTapu wearable device will be issued to visitors when they arrive at the park that allows them to virtually wait in a line while they have fun in other areas of the park.
TapuTapu will then alert them when it’s time to ride so they can head to the chosen attraction.
It will also offer various “tap-to-play” experiences throughout the park – such as triggering streams of water spurting from whales in Tot Tiki Reef, shooting water cannons at guests snaking down Kopiko Wai Winding River and illuminating images in the volcano’s hidden caves.

The star attraction - Krakatau Aqua Coaster
Family-friendly Krakatau Aqua Coaster is the showpiece ride Volcano Bay, taking them through the 200ft Krakatau volcano on specially-designed canoes.
They will be propelled and downwards – and upwards using linear induction motor technology – through the volcano’s interior, heading along dark passageways and into sparkling waterfalls.
